What people are saying

“I’ve been to this salon twice now, and overall I’ve had positive experiences both times. My first visit was for a manicure and pedicure around 6:30 PM, about an hour before closing. Since they were trying to finish services before the end of the day, they started my manicure while I was still getting my pedicure. A couple of my nails ended up slightly crooked, but they were still very cute. I got a cat-eye design and asked for an oval shape, which they absolutely nailed—the shape came out perfect. On my second visit, I chose a three-color design that matched my work logo. It actually cost more than the cat-eye set, but I thought the design turned out really cute. A few of the details were a little off-center, but nothing that kept me from enjoying the final look. One thing I really appreciate is the staff. They’re friendly, easy to talk to, and create a welcoming atmosphere. While the work hasn’t been 100% perfect either time, I’ve enjoyed my experiences and will come back again.”

“I went to this nail salon around August and paid over $100 including tip. Shortly after my appointment, I started feeling irritation around my nail. And noticed it started to lift, which worsened over time not even 1 week. I eventually went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a nail infection. The medical bills ended up costing more than the service itself, which was completely unexpected and frustrating. I think my red flag should have been when the nail tech was tugging on my cuticle and I have a tremble in my hand and started to tell me to stop moving when it’s just not something I can do. For months my nails were extremely thin, damaged, and not properly trimmed or cared for when I was there even after the service of getting removed there. Even when I was being charged over $20 just to get the nails removed I was treated unprofessionally and even called "dirty" which was incredibly disrespectful because I take care of my nails well. I refused to pay for additional services because the work was already bad. And I didn’t want to say anything but honestly I saw my bill and hope it doesn’t happen to anyone. It took months for my nails to heal, and they didn't start improving until December. Based on my experience. I would never recommend this place because of the unprofessionalism and lack of respect.”

“I had such a great experience with Mai at 5th Nail Lounge! She was incredibly kind, professional, and paid so much attention to detail. You can tell she really cares about her work and making sure her clients are happy. My nails turned out beautiful, and she took her time to make sure everything looked perfect. The whole appointment felt relaxing and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back to see Mai again. Highly recommend her if you want someone who is talented and truly takes pride in what they do!”

“This place is expensive, very rough during the nail removal process, and they charge extra for everything. I came in with short, average-length natural nails, and they wanted to charge me extra just to cut about a centimeter off. That makes no sense when they already have to use a file anyway. I wasn’t asking for a different shape or anything. When they were removing my nails, they tried to take them off with their own nails instead of soaking them or gently using an e-file to remove them properly. That’s a red flag when a nail salon does that. They also seemed like they were in a hurry and rushed through the service. With all that being said, I would not go back here. The picture without the ring is what they wanted to charge me an extra $8 to cut (before photo). The picture with the ring is the after photo. It’s literally almost the same length!”

“I’ve looked at various nail salons around Chapel Hill but none have hit my standards in terms of care and results. My technician was Vinny and he did not disappoint. He took wonderful care and focused on small details others have missed. He did an exceptional job. I received their lavender garden pedicure which was lovely. I get really bad ingrown nails on my right big toe. Other salons just move past it but Vinny made sure to remove the ingrown and asked if it felt better. It was so much better! We moved on to my hands, I have small nail beds so I need a stronger type of extension. I originally came in for gel with tip as most salons I’ve asked don’t carry gel-x. To my surprise, Vinny noticed my small nail beds and recommended the gel-x. The experience was wonderful. The salon very clean and polished and very welcoming and exceptional costumer service. They asked multiple times if I’d like a complementary water, wine, tea, etc. I may have just found the salon that works best for me and my needs! Give them a try you won’t be disappointed”
