“I started going to Serendipity when it was in KC. It was close to UC and there was a food truck outside. It was nice because I never needed an appointment and I could walk in whenever I had free time. They always made time for me. The KC salon was super cute. Their new location is on the 3rd floor of an office building. All the signs directing you where to park and which buttons to hit in the elevator are printed off a computer. Nothing seems permanent. They’ve been at this location on the boulevard for a couple years at least and it still appears to be a work in progress. The floor in the nail room looks like a cheap roll of vinyl flooring that is not flat. There are what looks like waves and ridges because the cheap flooring wasn’t installed properly. , the hair washing room is not clean and looks unfinished. Honestly everything in this salon looks unfinished and dirty. They’ve been at this location long enough to have been done with a remodel. I’ve had haircuts, color and my nails done here. The service is inconsistent, which is disappointing because I’ve had some great cuts and color and some lazy - rushed cuts here by the same stylist. I want to like serendipity so much but they don’t seem to put any effort in. I recommended them to a coworker and she was shocked at the appearance of the salon. She said it was a maze and was laughed at when she couldn’t find the bathroom. This salon isn’t professional and the stylist speak poorly of their coworkers to clients. I may go back in a year to see if they’ve improved but for now I will be looking for a new salon. Serendipity has been decent in the past but today it’s a mess with a weird smell.”

“I bought massage hair wash and cut and style facial pedicure and hour massage for my fiancé for her birthday. She expressed how nice the staff was but how she would not ever go back. She said there was hair all over the floor when she got her hair cut like they just left it there for weeks. She said they pulled someone else’s hair out of a brush and then used it in her right in front of her. She said there was wires everywhere hanging and every outlet had surge protectors overloaded to the max. I picked them because their prices seemed reasonable but now I wish I would have just spent the extra money and I feel like I let her down. She also stated she tried to get a foot spa and the machine was broken and the massage person was not trained and the massage person was the same person who did everything else so she is a nail technician a hair salonist and a masseuse. Either way was a negative experience .”

“I really wanted to like this place, but overall, just had a weird experience. The facility feels very dated/office-like and has no spa vibe whatsoever. The bathroom is extremely outdated. The layout is weird, like wandering through a maze. The staff (I guess it’s the staff?) congregates behind the reception desk area, and they are chatting, ordering food, hanging out. It seems like they could have a break room area to allow the first customer interaction space to be a little more client-centric as it feels like you’re interrupting. The waiting room has that ancient business carpet with runs and stains, no meaningful decor. There’s an old desk in the area, the couches and furniture are stained. Overall unkempt. The massage room has just a regular massage table, bright window lighting, and is a larger open room. Not the most relaxing place to strip down in. The temperature in the room was too cold. The massage itself was supposed to be deep tissue, but it really just seemed like she was applying lotion to me for an hour without any meaningful massage occurring. (Yes, I realize I could have asked for more pressure, but when someone is touching you that lightly and unconfidently, I didn’t want to ask for more pressure and have an overcorrection- because there’s no way what was happening was a massage.) When I went to check out, again, the entire group was all at the desk. 6-8 people hanging out. No clue who works there. Overall, I left less relaxed than when I started. I would not call this a “spa” and there’s many areas for improvement.”

“I’ve been to Serendipity for a few services over the last couple years. My partner and I would book a couples massage and we had wonderful massage therapists all the times we went, except this most recent time in February. I’m usually not one to complain or write bad reviews, but I don’t know if what we received can even be called a massage. It really just felt like this girl was rubbing oil on me, with no pressure or technique whatsoever. My partner said his lady only used one hand a lot of the time. Also, they wouldn’t stop talking to each other and it was distracting and frankly annoying. I’m not sure if these ladies were even licensed or qualified to perform this service and it was over $100. It felt like a huge waste of money. Don’t recommend.”

“I absolutely love going to Serendipity! From being greeted by the lovely faces at the front desk to the individual providing the services, everyone is so kind and down to earth. I have gotten a brow tint and eyelash extensions recently and I love them, I left feeling so beautiful! I plan on getting more services done in the near future and strongly encourage you to do the same for your beauty needs. I feel they are reasonably priced, too, so please check them out.”
